Oceana Mackenzie is a two-time Olympian and one of Australia’s most accomplished sport climbers, competing internationally across bouldering and lead. Oceana made history as the first Australian woman to compete in sport climbing at an Olympic Games when the sport debuted at Tokyo 2020. Three years later, she returned for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, progressing to the Boulder & Lead final and finishing an impressive seventh overall. In 2026, Oceana reached another major career milestone, winning the World Climbing Series Boulder event in Bern to become the first Australian to claim a gold medal at this level. She has continued to establish herself among the world’s leading climbers, with podium and finals appearances across the international circuit.
Born in Germany and raised in Melbourne, Oceana began climbing at eight years old after growing up around the sport with her mother and sisters. What began at her local climbing gym quickly developed into an international career, with Oceana making her World Cup debut as a teenager. Known for the combination of physical strength, creativity and problem-solving required by her sport, Oceana represents a new generation of Australian athletes competing on the global stage. Away from competition, she enjoys baking, colouring in, reading and spending time with family, and follows a ve(gg)an lifestyle.
