Emily Beecroft

Born in Traralgon, Victoria, Emily Beecroft OAM is one of Australia's leading Paralympic swimmers and an inspiring advocate for inclusion, resilience and high performance. A three-time Paralympian, Emily has established herself among the world's best, combining international success with outstanding leadership both in and out of the pool.

Emily made her Paralympic debut at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games before announcing herself on the world stage at Tokyo 2020, where she claimed her first Paralympic medals as part of Australia's relay teams. Her performances marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her career.

Following Tokyo, Emily relocated to Queensland to join the UniSC High Performance Para Swimming Program on the Sunshine Coast. Training with the USC Spartans has seen her continue to evolve as both an athlete and a leader, consistently producing world-class performances on the international stage.

At the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Emily delivered the finest performances of her career, winning gold in the Mixed 4×100m Medley Relay and bronze in the Women's 100m Butterfly S9, further cementing her status as one of Australia's premier Paralympic swimmers.

Her influence extends well beyond competition. In recognition of her leadership, professionalism and the respect she commands among her peers, Emily was named Female Athlete of the Paralympic Swimming Campaign in 2024 and received Swimming Australia's prestigious Swimmer's Swimmer Award, an honour voted on by fellow athletes.

Away from the pool, Emily is passionate about storytelling and digital communication. She is completing a Bachelor of Communication (Social Media) at the University of the Sunshine Coast, combining her lived experience as an elite athlete with a strong interest in media, content creation and advocacy.

In 2025, Emily's contribution to Australian sport and the broader community was recognised when she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).

Known for her authenticity, resilience and infectious positivity, Emily is a powerful role model who continues to inspire through both her performances and her willingness to champion greater inclusion and opportunity for people with disability.
