Charli Hately is one of Australia's most exciting young surfing talents and a rising star on the global stage. Hailing from Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, the 17-year-old has rapidly established herself as one of the brightest prospects in Australian surfing, earning a place on the World Surf League Challenger Series after an outstanding run of international performances.
Charli's breakthrough season saw her produce exceptional results across the Asia-Pacific region, including victory at the Cape Naturaliste Pro, runner-up finishes at the Siargao International Surfing Cup QS5000, Gold Coast Open QS1000 and Nias Pro QS6000, along with a finals appearance at the Siheung Korea Open QS6000. Her consistency throughout the year propelled her into the Challenger Series, placing her one step away from qualification for the elite Championship Tour.
Known for her powerful, progressive surfing and competitive maturity beyond her years, Charli continues to impress with her composure under pressure and fearless approach in a wide range of conditions. Her performances have firmly established her as one of the next generation of Australian surfers to watch.
A proud representative of Australia, Charli was a member of the nation's gold medal-winning team at the 2024 ISA World Junior Surfing Championships and was selected once again to wear the green and gold at the 2025 ISA World Junior Surfing Championships, further highlighting her standing among the country's elite junior surfers.
Away from competition, Charli is committed to continual improvement. Her training extends well beyond the ocean, incorporating strength and conditioning, Pilates, swimming and other cross-training disciplines to build the athleticism required to compete with the world's best.
Creative, grounded and adventurous by nature, Charli also enjoys music, singing, playing guitar and expressing herself through painting, drawing and writing. Travel has become an integral part of her journey, exposing her to new cultures and strengthening her connection with the global surfing community.
